Report: Giants reach one-year deal with Derek Holland

The San Francisco Giants have agreed to re-sign lefty Derek Holland to a one-year contract worth a guaranteed $7M, reports Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Holland's contract comes with a $6.5M base salary for the 2019 season and a $6.5M club option for the 2020 season, according to the report. That second year's base salary will increase to $7M if Holland makes 24 starts this season, $7.5M if he makes 28 starts and $8.5M if he makes 32 starts. All told, the Martini Sports Management client can earn $15M over the next two seasons if the option is exercised, according to the report. Holland, 32, enjoyed a career revival with the Giants last season. Once a promising young lefty with the Texas Rangers, Holland missed the vast majority of the 2014 season due to microfracture surgery on his left knee, and shoulder issues plagued him in each of the next two seasons.
