Steve Kerr abandoned his conservative nature in Game 1, and the Warriors rolled

6 days ago   |   By Yahoo Sports

HOUSTON - Steve Kerr's tenure as coach of the Golden State Warriors has been defined by a couple of things. The first, and most obvious, is a ridiculous number of wins. Another, and more subjective, is the conservative nature of his decision-making. Kerr has often been prodded - by the media, by the fans, even at times by his players - to go for the jugular more often. Even when Stephen Curry was at his peak a couple of years ago, Kerr resisted going away from his egalitarian, ball-movement offense to allow Curry to just run one pick and roll after another. He has constantly declined to...

Jets-Golden Knights Notebook: Winnipeg confident coming off loss

Jets-Golden Knights Notebook: Winnipeg confident coming off loss

6 days ago   |   By Sportsnet

LAS VEGAS - The Winnipeg Jets can be forgiven if they've forgotten what a losing streak feels like.
Heading into Game 3 of the Western Conference Final on Wednesday, they've gone 26 games without dropping two in a row - dating all the way back to a three-game slide from March 10-13. It's allowed them to play deep into the spring and provided an extra boost of confidence as they look to rebound from a 3-1 loss to the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 2.
“It's huge when you haven't lost two games in a row. It's a short series,” winger Patrik Laine said after the morning skate at T-Mobile Arena...

Gallant, Maurice took long road to lead Golden Knights, Jets

6 days ago   |   By Yahoo Sports

Gerard Gallant and Paul Maurice do not know each other well despite having their NHL coaching careers overlap for several years. The men behind the benches for the Vegas Golden Knights and Winnipeg Jets, though, both have led their teams into the Western Conference final after following long, winding paths. Gallant was fired by the Florida Panthers with a winning record just 21 games into the 2016-17 season, leaving him to catch a cab outside the arena in Raleigh, North Carolina, after his belongings were unloaded from the bus.

Golden Knights' Perron a game-time decision for Game 3 vs. Jets

6 days ago   |   By TheScore

The Vegas Golden Knights could have a key offensive figure back in the lineup in Game 3 against the Winnipeg Jets. Head coach Gerard Gallant said forward David Perron missed Game 2 because he "wasn't feeling well," according to Adam Hill of the Las Vegas Review-Journal , but the winger was listed as a game-time decision ahead of Game 3 on Wednesday. Perron finished third on the Golden Knights with 66 points this season, and he has collected seven assists in nine playoff games. While his status is uncertain, one small lineup change has already been made. Backup netminder Malcolm Subban is...
