One of the most important restricted free agents this summer for the Winnipeg Jets was goaltender Connor Hellebuyck, who broke out last season and helped carry the team deep into the playoffs. Sabres sign forward Sean Malone to one-year deal

The Buffalo Sabres have signed forward Sean Malone to a one-year, two-way contract worth $787,500 at the NHL level.
The six-foot, 197-pound centre tallied 12 goals and 10 assists in 73 games for the American Hockey League's Rochester Americans last season.
During his four-year collegiate stint with Harvard in the ECAC, Malone recorded 99 points across 115 games, including 42 in 36 games as a senior.
The Buffalo, N.Y., native was drafted 159th overall by his hometown Sabres back in 2013 and made his first NHL appearance during Buffalo's final game of the 2016-17 campaign.

The Carolina Hurricanes have agreed to terms with forward Greg McKegg on a one-year, two-way contract. The deal is worth $715,000 at the NHL level or $250,000 in the AHL.
McKegg posted 23 points in 19 games with the AHL's Charlotte Checkers last season after being acquired from Pittsburgh in exchange for forward Josh Jooris on Feb. 26, 2018. Prior to the trade, McKegg skated in 26 NHL games with the Penguins in 2017-18, netting two goals and adding two assists.
McKegg was originally selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the third round of the 2010 NHL Draft.
