PGA picks: Johnson to continue stunning play at John Deere Classic

6 monthes ago   |   By TheScore

The Open Championship sits just a week away at Carnoustie, which means one of the weakest fields of the year is upon us at the John Deere Classic back in the United States. Francesco Molinari represents the only player in the field currently listed in the world golf rankings' top 20, and defending champion Bryson DeChambeau is the top-ranked American at No. 22. There's not much value among the top names on the board, so this is probably a good week to look for a potential long-shot winner. Favorite to watch Zach Johnson The John Deere Classic might as well be called the Zach Johnson...

Ranking the John Deere Classic field: Will Johnson keep dominating?

Ranking the John Deere Classic field: Will Johnson keep dominating?

6 monthes ago   |   By TheScore

The 156-man field is set for the John Deere Classic in the Quad Cities area of Illinois. The field lacks punch, with most of golf's marquee names either in Scotland prepping for next week's Open Championship, or taking the week off. However, there are still plenty of recognizable players in action. TPC Deere Run, which has hosted the event since 2000, is a 7,268-yard par-71 course that places an emphasis on the approach game and putting. Distance and accuracy off the tee aren't critical, so skilled wedge players have the advantage. Here, we rank the top 10 in the field : 10. Chris Kirk...

DeChambeau looking to repeat at John Deere Classic

6 monthes ago   |   By Sportsnet

Bryson DeChambeau will enter a PGA Tour event looking to defend a title for the first time in his career.
DeChambeau's breakthrough came last year at the John Deere Classic, which tees off on Thursday at TPC Deere Run in Silvis, Illinois. After entering the final round four strokes off the pace, DeChambeau birdied six of his final nine holes for a one-shot win over Patrick Rodgers.
DeChambeau will enter this year's event as a strong contender to repeat as its champion as well.
With most of golf's big names playing the Scottish Open in preparation for next week's British Open at Carnoustie...

John Deere Classic and more importantly, Scottish Open Picks

6 monthes ago   |   By Yardbarker

Next week is the Open Championship, but before we get to Carnoustie we have one last Tour stop to get to, and since the field is pretty ho-hum, we're going to give you some Scottish Open picks as well. Here's who we like this week.
DMoney
Before we get to my pick, let us re-live the time that Zach Johnson got scared off by an air cannon at this event: Now that we got that neverforget moment out of the way, on to my pick for the week.
While it would be cool to see Steven Bowditch win this week since he went to Twitter to find himself a caddie, I think I have a better chance at getting the...

DeChambeau, Johnson headline featured groups at John Deere Classic

6 monthes ago   |   By TheScore

With the Open Championship right around the corner, most of the game's best are either taking the John Deere Classic off or playing the Scottish Open, getting accustomed to links-style golf. However, notable past champions such as Jordan Spieth , Bryson DeChambeau , and Zach Johnson suggest the event at TPC Deere Run is still worth watching, and the latter two will compete in this year's edition. Here are the featured groups for Rounds 1 and 2. Group 1: Aaron Wise, Si Woo Kim, Harold Varner III
Thursday - 8:50 a.m.
Friday - 2:00 p.m. Group 2: Zach Johnson, Steve Stricker, Wesley...
