Kyrie Irving rips young Celtics teammates after loss

6 monthes ago   |   By Yardbarke

Celtics veteran point guard Kyrie Irving was critical of the team's young players after Saturday's 105-103 loss to the Magic, and he did not hold back one bit. Irving was seen confronting teammate Gordon Hayward over the Celtics forward's decision on an inbounds play in the game's final seconds. Hayward elected to throw the ball to Jayson Tatum in the corner, which resulted in a contested fadeaway jumper that clanged off the rim at the buzzer. Irving appeared to feel that the ball should've gone elsewhere, rather than in the corner, which limited the Celtics' options on the final play...

Kyrie Irving: Celtics' Young Players ‘Don't Know What It Takes' To Be Championship-Caliber Team

6 monthes ago   |   By NESN

It was a tough loss for the Boston Celtics on Saturday night, but no one seemed more frustrated than Kyrie Irving.
During the final seconds of the eventual 105-103 loss to the Orlando Magic, Gordon Hayward elected to inbounds pass to Jayson Tatum, not Irving, who missed the 18-foot shot as time expired. It clear Irving was upset with Hayward's decision. And Hayward said he's seen Tatum make that shot in practice several times, but the decision still didn't seem to sit well with Irving.
After the game, the C's second-year guard had a lot to say about the loss, but particularly called out...

With 2.9 seconds remaining in regulation, Hayward inbounded to Jayson Tatum , who missed the game-tying opportunity. Irving was seen berating Hayward after the buzzer sounded, apparently frustrated with his decision to pass to the sophomore. Hayward told reporters that Irving wanted him to pass to veteran big man Al Horford , according to...

Celtics Notes: Here's Why Gordon Hayward Passed To Jayson Tatum In Final Seconds

6 monthes ago   |   By NESN

With the Boston Celtics down by two in the final seconds of the game with possession, one would think Gordon Hayward would inbounds pass to Kyrie Irving to hit the game-tying or game-winning shot.
But that wasn't the case Saturday.
Hayward found Jayson Tatum who attempted an 18-foot jumper and tried to send the game to overtime. The shot, however, didn't go in and the Celtics ultimately lost 105-103 to the Orlando Magic at Amway Center. The loss marked the second straight for Boston.
Irving was visibly upset when time expired and had some words with his teammate following the final...

Kyrie Irving confronts Gordon Hayward over final shot in loss

6 monthes ago   |   By Yardbarke

Celtics point guard Kyrie Irving was none too pleased about Gordon Hayward's decision in the final seconds of Saturday's 105-103 loss to the Magic. Boston saw a 10-point halftime lead slip away in the final two quarters, although the team had a chance to tie or take the lead in the final seconds. Gordon Hayward was tasked with inbounding the ball, but he passed it to Jayson Tatum, who ran into the corner. That made the Magic's job of defending the shot much easier, as Tatum was forced to settle for a difficult fadeaway jumper, which he missed, thus ending the game. Irving made his way over...

Celtics Wrap: Boston Drops Second Straight With 105-103 Loss Vs. Magic

6 monthes ago   |   By NESN

The official second half of the NBA season did not go in favor of the Celtics, as missed 3-pointers haunted Boston on Saturday night.
Despite having six players with double-digits in points, the Magic was too much for the Green as they dropped their bout to Orlando 105-103 at Amway Center.
The Celtics were an abysmal 8-of-32 from distance, but shot 68 percent from the field in the loss.
Kyrie Irving led Boston with 24 points, while Marcus Morris Sr. (17), Jayson Tatum (16), Jaylen Brown (13), Al Horford (10) and Marcus Smart (10), all reached double figures. Magic's Aaron Gordon paced all...
