Brad Stevens Sympathizes With Referees After Celtics' Game 4 Loss

11 monthes ago   |   By NESN

Being a referee is somewhat of a thankless job, and Brad Stevens seems to understand that.
The officials became a topic of conversation in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals between the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday. While the C's didn't do themselves any favors in the 111-102 loss , they also were on the wrong end of a handful of questionable calls.
But instead of throwing shade at the refs after Boston's frustrating loss at Quicken Loans Arena, Stevens opted for a different route .
“You won't hear me complain about the officials,” Stevens said, per The Athletics'...

Joel Embiid appears to throw shade at Aron Baynes

11 monthes ago   |   By Yardbarke

Joel Embiid appeared to take a moment out of his Monday evening to throw some shade in the direction of Boston Celtics big man Aron Baynes.During the fourth quarter of Monday's Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals between the Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers, Baynes corralled a loose ball facing away from the basket. He briefly waited before turning towards the hoop, all while teammate Al Horford was pointing towards the basket. Not long after that odd play, Embiid appeared to tweet about Baynes, calling him “Man bun.” Embiid may have gotten his joke off, but Baynes ultimately has the...

Celtics Wrap: LeBron James Drops 44 Points As Boston Falls In Game 4

11 monthes ago   |   By NESN

The Boston Celtics have been able to overcome large deficits all season long, but there would be no comeback Monday night at Quicken Loans Arena.
The Celtics spent the bulk of the game chipping away at the Cleveland Cavaliers' lead, which grew as large as 19. But in the end, the Cavs managed to fend off the C's to earn a 111-102 win in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals.
LeBron James was a force to be reckoned with, scoring a game-high 42 points. Despite five Celtics scoring in double figures, including Jaylen Brown's team-high 25 points, Boston dropped its second straight loss in...

Joel Embiid Fires Twitter Shot At Celtics' Aron Baynes During Game 4

11 monthes ago   |   By NESN

Joel Embiid apparently forgot what happened during the second round of the NBA playoffs.
The young big man and the Philadelphia 76ers were bounced in five games by the underdog Boston Celtics thanks in large part to the play of Al Horford and one Aron Baynes.
Well during Game 4 of the Eastern Conference finals between the Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers on Monday night, Baynes corraled a loose ball on the offensive end of the floor and had a wide-open path to the basket. But there was one problem: the center forgot where he was on the floor, as he stayed stationary with the ball instead of...

WATCH: Cavs fan puts on epic show during halftime mini-hoops competition

11 monthes ago   |   By Yardbarke

While the Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers hydrated and came up with updated game plans in their locker rooms during halftime of Game 4, a Cavaliers fan put on quite a show of his own at center court. The setting was a standard arcade variety mini-hoops pop-a-shot competition. The young Cavs fan stepped up to the line and started shooting, and he absolutely lit up Quicken Loans Arena as he dropped one shot after another like a pro. That's just crazy, and the Twitter reactions were great, too. May 22, 2018 May 22, 2018

Watch: JR Smith throws inbounds pass to himself off opponent's back

11 monthes ago   |   By Yardbarke

JR Smith got creative right before halftime in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday night.Smith was taking the ball out from the baseline with 1.2 seconds left before the half. He didn't see much, so he threw the ball in off Al Horford's back. The ball caromed back to him, and he attempted a deep shot from the corner. It's too bad Smith missed the shot, because that would have been a great highlight otherwise. When he's not pushing Horford in the back, he's throwing passes off of it.

Jaylen Brown gets off to brutal start in Game 4

11 monthes ago   |   By Yardbarke

Jaylen Brown had a really rough start in Game 4 of the Eastern Conference Finals on Monday night.Brown began the game shooting just 1-for-9 as the Boston Celtics fell behind the Cleveland Cavaliers. He missed a layup, a couple of threes, and had two shots blocked by Kyle Korver and a third by Larry Nance Jr. As if all that weren't bad enough, he had a double-whammy at the end of the first quarter. Not only did Brown defy coach Brad Stevens' instructions to hold for the last possession of the quarter, but he also missed a dunk. Brown finally subbed out in the second quarter with his team...

Doris Burke Nearly Asked Brad Stevens ‘Inappropriate' Question During Game 3

11 monthes ago   |   By NESN

Game 3 certainly was a forgettable one for the Boston Celtics.
The C's were knocked around in a 116-86 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference final contest, which allowed the Cavs to cut Boston's series lead to one game.
It is no secret that the Celtics are lacking in depth this postseason due to various injuries, which allowed rookie Guerschon Yabusele to get some minutes in the loss, including a few in the first quarter while the Celtics were in a deep hole.
That substitution piqued the interest of NBA on ESPN sideline reporter Doris Burke, so much so that she nearly...
