Rays agree to one-year deal with Avisail Garcia

The Athletic's Jim Bowden tweets that Avisail Garcia has agreed to a one-year deal with the Tampa Bay Rays. Tampa Bay has reportedly been in the market for a right-handed bat and will bring a buy-low candidate who fits that description into the fold with Garcia. Hamstring issues torpedoed Garcia's 2018 season, as he was limited to just 93 games and managed just a .236/.281/.438 batting line in 385 plate appearances. Report: Rays close to signing Avisail Garcia

The Tampa Bay Rays are nearing a one-year, $3.5-million deal with free-agent outfielder Avisail Garcia , sources told Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic on Monday. Including bonuses, Garcia will reportedly be able to earn about $6 million once the contract is finalized, according to Jon Heyman of Fancred Sports. The Chicago White Sox non-tendered Garcia in November after failing to find a trade partner. An All-Star in 2017, Garcia took a step backward in 2018, slashing .236/.281/.438 with 19 home runs.
