Nathan Eovaldi's Reported Deal With Red Sox Could Offer Short- And Long-Term Benefit

4 monthes ago   |   By NESN

The Boston Red Sox are doing all they can to prop open their World Series window.
Boston made a bold move Thursday, reportedly re-signing right-handed pitcher and playoff hero Nathan Eovaldi to a four-year contract worth nearly $70 million.
That's quite a commitment both in terms of years and money for a pitcher who already has had Tommy John surgery twice and has eclipsed 155 innings in a season just once in his career. It's a heavy financial investment for a pitcher who's never been to an All-Star Game let alone finished in the top 10 of Cy Young Award voting.
But at the risk of...

Red Sox to re-sign Nathan Eovaldi

4 monthes ago   |   By Yardbarker

The Red Sox have struck a deal to bring back righty Nathan Eovaldi, according to Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic. Terms of the agreement, which is pending a physical, have yet to be reported. This was a match that MLBTR predicted in its listing of the top fifty MLB free agents. Frankly, that was one of the easier situations to predict, given Eovaldi's stirring run for the World Series champs. Both the upside and the uncertainty that come with Eovaldi's flame-throwing right arm are well known. Having witnessed him up close for several months, concluding with a trial by fire on the game's...

The Boston Red Sox have agreed to a deal that will keep one of the biggest heroes of their 2018 postseason run with the team for years to come. Ken Rosenthal of The Athletic reported on Thursday that starting pitcher Nathan Eovaldi and the Red Sox have reached agreement on a new contract. Eovaldi has extensive experience pitching in the AL East. He made 10 starts for the Rays before being acquired by the Red Sox in a trade last season, and he posted a 3.81 ERA in 111 total innings in 2018. MLB Rumors: Nathan Eovaldi, Red Sox Agree To Terms On Contract

4 monthes ago   |   By NESN

Nathan Eovaldi isn't going anywhere.

Boston acquired Eovaldi from the Tampa Bay Rays shortly before the 2018 deadline, and the hard-throwing righty did all that was asked of him down the stretch and into the playoffs. Eovaldi won his two playoff starts and also proved to be an invaluable piece pitching...

MLB Rumors: Red Sox ‘Zero In' On Nathan Eovaldi; Deal Likely?

4 monthes ago   |   By NESN

We'll be honest: There's not a whole lot to this Nathan Eovaldi update, but if you're a Boston Red Sox fan, it's good news nonetheless.
That's because this is a positive update, as The Athletic's Ken Rosenthal reported Wednesday night, citing sources, that the Red Sox are “zeroing in” on free agent pitcher Nathan Eovaldi. Rosenthal clarified that while a deal wasn't yet done, an agreement is becoming “increasingly likely.” Talks between the Red Sox and Eovaldi were said to be getting serious earlier Wednesday, according to other reports.
