The Milwaukee Brewers outfielder received 29 of 30 first-place votes with the other going to pitcher Jacob deGrom of the New York Mets , who finished fifth overall. Baker Mayfield takes part in Christian Yelich's NL MVP celebration

6 monthes ago   |   By Yardbarker

Christian Yelich was announced on Thursday as the winner of the 2018 NL MVP Award, and guess who was there to celebrate with him? Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. Mayfield's Cleveland Browns are on a bye this week, so the quarterback was in Southern California and able to celebrate with Yelich. The two became friends over the offseason when the trained at Proactive Sports Performance in Westlake Village, California, which is in Yelich's hometown. They have remained friends, with Mayfield even supporting Yelich for NL MVP back in September. Yelich received 29 of 30 first place...

Christian Yelich, Mookie Betts win MVP Awards

6 monthes ago   |   By Yardbarker

The Baseball Writers' Association of America announced Monday night that Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich was voted the Most Valuable Player of the National League. Meanwhile, fellow outfielder - and World Series champion - Mookie Betts took the prize in the American League. Yelich nearly pulled off a unanimous win after helping lead the Brew Crew to a stirring NL Central title. Only one first-place vote went to another player, as Mets hurler Jacob deGrom was not-unjustly rewarded for an exceptional season that already netted him a Cy Young Award. Clearly, though, Yelich stood above the...

Twitter reacts to Baker Mayfield joining Christian Yelich at MVP watch party

6 monthes ago   |   By Yardbarker

Milwaukee Brewers outfielder Christian Yelich was named National League MVP on Thursday. That wasn't especially surprising. What was surprising was that one of the guests at his watch party was Cleveland Browns quarterback Baker Mayfield. Yelich was surrounded by friends, family, teammates, and Mayfield, who's on his bye week. The two worked out a lot together in the offseason. Mayfield had even shouted out Yelich in a press conference earlier this season. Still, many on Twitter were surprised to see Mayfield hanging out with Yelich. We only hope that this becomes a trend.
