Former Los Angeles Angels infielder Luis Valbuena and former Pittsburgh Pirates second baseman Jose Castillo were killed in a car accident in Venezuela on Thursday. Valbuena and Castillo were reportedly playing together for Lara Cardinales in the Venezuelan Winter League. According to the report, Valbuena and Castillo were passengers in a car that collided with a rock that rolled onto the road. A pair of ex-Major League Baseball players died in a car crash Thursday night in Venezuela.
MLB veterans Jose Valbuena, 34, and Jose Castillo, 37, lost their lives in a car crash after a playing in a Venezuela Professional Baseball League game.
According to ESPN.com, Venezuelan authorities said the crash happened after their car swerved into the opposite side of the road while trying to avoid a sliding rock.
